PUBLIC CONTROL OVER THE COMPLIANCE OF THE RIGHTS OF CONVICTS

Much has been done to organize and conduct cultural and educational work in the city’s correctional institutions, to create appropriate conditions for the detention of convicts. The commission’s work plan on this issue has been fully implemented.

Members of the supervisory commission personally received convicts in correctional institutions, considered their applications, made decisions on them, and provided legal advice, for example, 88 convicted citizens were provided with legal aid.

Members of the supervisory commission are not left aside in matters of ensuring the social adaptation of persons who have served a sentence of imprisonment. They are constantly provided with various services. During the reporting period, 144 clients who were in places of deprivation of liberty applied. They received 279 informational, psychological, and legal services.

In addition, the commission decided to send a letter to the State Department for the Execution of Sentences in order to develop a mechanism for convicts to obtain lost documents, because often


convicts who are released do not have passports and identification codes.

After additions and proposals from the commission members, the commission’s work plan for 2010 was approved.
