HUMAN RIGHTS PROTECTION IN EUROPEAN SOCIETY

One of its most active participants is the director of the Council of Europe Information Office in Ukraine, Oleksandr Pavlychenko. During the “round table”, he

told the audience and all those present about the activities of the Council of Europe in the protection of human rights. “Our task is to provide information on where and how you can protect your interests, bring the standards of national justice up to the standards of the European Court of Human Rights,” said Mr. Oleksandr.

According to him, the Council of Europe is an institution of international influence that allows us to keep the state from reckless steps, through observers it points out mistakes and helps us find ways to solve them.

About the problems in the field of human rights protection,

the head of the information support and public relations department of the executive apparatus of the Chernihiv regional council, Oleksandr Solomakha, spoke. In his opinion, Ukraine does not have developed traditions of human rights protection, but the population is inherent in legal nihilism, which can be explained by the fact that protecting one’s rights requires a lot of time, effort and money from a person.

The executive director of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights, Viktor Tarasov, also spoke about the unsatisfactory legal awareness of citizens. “We have almost no clear state policy in the field of human rights protection,” he noted during a report on the general state of human rights observance in Ukraine.

The participants of the meeting agreed that in many ways our human rights system does not meet international standards, but nothing prevents us, you and local officials from being fair and noble in our actions. The main thing is to remain human.
