The mechanism of interaction between entities in the field of combating human trafficking in the Chernihiv region is in action

The project “Implementation of a mechanism for interaction between entities implementing measures to combat human trafficking in the Chernihiv region” continues, which is implemented by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights. The project began in September 2014 and during this time many activities were carried out.

In November-December 2014, the project conducted two 2-day trainings for authorized persons to establish the status of a person who has suffered from human trafficking and employees of the Centers for Social Services for Families, Children and Youth of the region.

In particular, during March-April 2015, bush round tables were held in 7 districts of the region on establishing cooperation between entities of the national mechanism for interaction. Such round tables were held in such cities of Chernihiv region as: Novgorod-Siverskyi, Borzna, Shchors, Pryluky, Mena, Nizhyn and Chernihiv. During the round tables, the need for cooperation in the current conditions between state institutions and public organizations for more comprehensive assistance to victims of human trafficking was emphasized.

In addition, during May-July 2015, four 2-day trainings were held for representatives of responsible persons – subjects of the National Interaction Mechanism (NICM) working in the field of prevention and counteraction to human trafficking from Novgorod-Siverskyi, Semenivskyi, Borznyanskyi, Bakhmatskyi, Ichnyanskyi, Pryluky, Talalaivskyi, Sribnyanskyi, Shchors, Koryukivskyi, Gorodnyanskyi districts, the cities of Novgorod-Siverskyi and Pryluky.

134 civil servants participated in these trainings.

In general, there is progress in improving the capacity of NMA entities in Chernihiv region to identify and provide assistance to victims of human trafficking on an ongoing basis. Thanks to a wide information campaign and printed materials, residents of Chernihiv region receive information about the existing state mechanism for providing assistance to victims of human trafficking. 10 advertising city lights have been placed on the central streets of Chernihiv. Project activities are covered on the information resources of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration and district state administrations of the region, other regional print and electronic publications.


The project “Implementation of a mechanism for interaction between subjects implementing measures to combat human trafficking in Chernihiv region” is being implemented by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), with the assistance of the European Union and thanks to the generous support of the American people through the project of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).


The overall goal of the project is to expand the national mechanism for interaction between subjects implementing measures to prevent and combat human trafficking in Chernihiv region by strengthening the capacity and capabilities of relevant state institutions, law enforcement agencies and NGOs in the region in the field of identifying and identifying persons affected by human trafficking (VHT), promoting rehabilitation, reintegration into society and restoring the violated rights of VHT, at the level of Chernihiv region.
