A Public Justice Center has been established in Chernihiv region

We have been working for a long time to create a Public Justice Center (PJC) in the city of Chernihiv on the basis of the public organization “Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights” and finally it became possible! In April, the Public Justice Center (PJC) in Chernihiv and the PJC branch in Ichnya began their work on the basis of the Ichnya District Court of Chernihiv Oblast, although in quarantine conditions and in a slightly different format!

The PJC’s activities are carried out with the support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) within the framework of the New Justice Program.

The Public Justice Center in Chernihiv and Ichnya should become a spatial platform where representatives of the judiciary, the state legal aid system (SLA), executive authorities, local governments, and the public will combine their efforts and resources to solve urgent legal problems at the level of the communities of Chernihiv and Ichnya ATC.

The services of the Public Justice Center will be comprehensive and will include primary legal aid, legal consultations, secondary legal aid in strategic cases, client referrals, mediation, facilitation of processes in communities, legal education, etc.

Special attention within the framework of the activities of the Public Service Center will be paid to solving problems and challenges in communities related to public safety, juvenile prevention, combating domestic violence, labor and family issues, in particular through the use of pre-trial and alternative dispute resolution methods (mediation), ensuring other legal needs of vulnerable segments of the population.

In the current conditions, we will pay attention primarily to the observance of human rights under quarantine restrictions and the introduction of a state of emergency, and we will also conduct explanatory work on the observance of medical rights and provide information in the field of public health.

Please note that during the quarantine period, consultations and legal assistance are still provided online on the organization’s website www.protection.org.ua or by phone 0462 61-25-32
