Working meeting with the leadership of the Kozeletsk village council of Chernihiv region

Representatives of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights, together with an employee of the Secretariat of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights Iryna Zhmaka and the regional coordinator for public relations of the Commissioner in Chernihiv region Alla Lepekha, held a working meeting with the leadership of the Kozeletsk village council in Chernihiv region and discussed the state of observance of the rights of community residents under martial law.
During the meeting,

informed about the basic principles of the functioning of the institution of the Commissioner and the activities carried out by the regional representative office of the Commissioner in the region in the field of ensuring compliance with human and citizen rights, about the response measures taken by the Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine for Human Rights in order to restore the rights of people who applied to the Office of the Ombudsman of Ukraine.
They discussed the problematic issues that citizens most often apply to state institutions and local government bodies in conditions of martial law, and the peculiarities of the work of the regional representative office of the Commissioner.
The meeting participants also discussed the socio-economic situation in the community, energy security measures, the state of preparation and arrangement of civil defense structures, bomb shelters and the simplest shelters, the deployment of stationary and mobile heating points.
Representatives of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights

informed about the possibilities of providing legal and humanitarian assistance to community residents. Contacts of the organization’s lawyers were provided, who provide free legal support to internally displaced persons and victims of military actions in the Chernihiv region.
The meeting participants agreed on constant coordination and further cooperation to resolve current issues in order to prevent human rights violations and provide comprehensive assistance to those citizens who need it.
The village council employees were presented with the recommendations of the Commissioner for the observance of the constitutional right of a person and a citizen to access information and printed materials of an educational nature.
