Social educators of Chernihiv region improve skills in preventing manifestations of human trafficking

A training on prevention and counteraction to human trafficking was held in Chernihiv for social educators and practical psychologists of the Chernihiv region.

The main objective of the training was to increase the professional competence of psychological service employees in preventive work and prevention of manifestations of human trafficking among children and youth.

The trainer of the event was Veronika Andreenkova, manager of educational programs of the International Women’s Human Rights Center “La Strada – Ukraine”.

During the training, specialists gained experience in the ability to apply modern technologies in practical activities that have a positive impact on the formation of life skills and safe behavior skills in order to avoid human trafficking situations, as well as actions in case of finding themselves in such situations.

As Veronika Andreyenkova noted, the use of gaming technologies in the work of a social educator or practical psychologist is extremely appropriate. With the help of the game, students have the opportunity to model or imitate certain life situations and look for ways to solve them. The game is also a means of updating, applying and consolidating certain knowledge and necessary skills. Through the game, participants practice behavioral models, so gaming technologies can and should be used in social and preventive work with children and youth on the problem of combating human trafficking. The training was organized by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights with the support of the Democracy Promotion Foundation of the US Embassy in Ukraine.
