Countering violence in wartime: efforts are being joined in Priluchyna to support victims

A joint working meeting of representatives of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights with members of the Interdepartmental Council on Family, Gender Equality, Demographic Development, Prevention of Domestic Violence and Combating Human Trafficking under the Pryluky City Council was held in Pryluky.
The purpose of the event was to improve the interaction of responsible entities at the local level and to assist in resolving problematic issues in the implementation of the Program for Family Support, Ensuring Gender Equality, Combating Domestic Violence and Combating Human Trafficking in the City of Pryluky for 2024-2025.
In particular, the participants of the meeting:
discussed the current situation regarding the prevention of domestic violence, gender-based violence, and human trafficking, both in Ukraine in general and in the Pryluk community in particular.
emphasized the importance of identifying victims and providing them with effective protection and access to assistance at the community level and through the involvement of public organizations;
considered the possibility of referring victims to the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights to receive comprehensive individual assistance;
discussed the requirements for the functioning of interdepartmental coordination councils, their composition, the involvement of additional entities, and the development of specialized programs;
focused on the problems of informing the population, involving psychologists and lawyers in criminal cases involving children, victims, in particular, of sexual violence.
The participants of the meeting agreed that effective interaction of responsible actors, as well as the experience and capabilities of specialized civil society organizations, will help local communities implement a multidisciplinary approach in the field of preventing and combating conflict-related violence.
