Challenges to freedom of speech in Chernihiv region: delaying cases and pressure on municipal media

Experts from the Institute of Mass Information (IMI) analyzed the state of affairs regarding freedom of speech in the Chernihiv region.

Among the main threats to media freedom and violations of journalists’ rights in the Chernihiv region, several aspects can be distinguished:

– Delays in investigating cases of obstruction of journalists’ professional activities

– Pressure on municipal media by local authorities due to political conflicts

– Restrictions on war coverage
