The training consisted of three modules:
The first – introduction: general information on the Ukraine-EU action plan and a general overview of cooperation in the field of human rights, reported by the project coordinator Vadym Pyvovarov, UHHRU.
The second – freedom of peaceful assembly, was conducted by Volodymyr Chemeris, member of the Board of UHHRU and the Institute “Respublika” (Kyiv). In his speech, he spoke about the rights of citizens to peaceful assemblies and the obligations of authorities to ensure their implementation in accordance with Ukrainian legislation. After the report, Volodymyr Chemeris answered the questions of the training participants regarding various situations that may arise during peaceful assemblies and ways to resolve them using the example of resolving similar issues in the countries of the European Union. After the discussion, the training participants were shown the documentary film “Faces of Protest”. The film
was made based on the events of late 2000-2001 in Kyiv during the “Ukraine without Kuchma” actions.
The third – freedom of access to information, was conducted by Nataliya Romanova,
head of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights.
During the training, she spoke about access to information from a review of national law and practice on freedom of information. Together with the training participants, she conducted a practical session on compiling and applying a three-part test when resolving the issue of providing information.
