In Chernihiv, a training session on “Prevention and Response to Conflict-Related Gender-Based and Sexual Violence” was held for employees of the Human Rights Department of the National Police of Ukraine.
Particular attention was paid to conflict-related violence, changes in legislation, and mechanisms for assisting victims.
The main goal of the training:
– Increasing law enforcement officers’ awareness of the nature, causes, and consequences of violence
– Developing skills for effective cooperation between entities working in the field of preventing GBV and SNPK
– Studying methods for recording offenses and working with victims
– Discussing current legislation and ways to bring perpetrators to justice
During practical sessions, participants actively discussed real cases, developed action algorithms, and created an effective mechanism for assisting victims.
“A victim-centered approach to service is not just words, it is timely decisions and measures taken for the effective, efficient and urgent protection of a person who has suffered from gender-based or sexual violence,” said the training expert, head of programs of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights

The project is implemented thanks to the support of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland within the framework of the project “Women, Peace, Security: Acting Together”, implemented by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund.
