Representatives of Sumy Oblast AHs learned about practical aspects of implementing a public budget in communities

An off-site event was held in Trostianets, which was attended by representatives of the AH and individual settlements of Sumy, Okhtyrsky, Nedryhaylivsky, Burynsky, Konotopsky, Bilopolsky, Trostyanets districts of Sumy region.

– expert on local economic development, head of the NGO “Center for Scientific Research, Mobility and Growth”, candidate of economic sciences, associate professor, member of the Public Council under the Ministry of Regional Development, Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Ukraine, member of the Ukrainian Association of Evaluation.

The participants of the training learned about the idea of ​​the emergence of participatory budgeting and its spread in the world. Particular attention was paid to practical aspects: the main components of the process of preparation, submission and evaluation of projects, as well as the nuances of voting processes. They also focused on the adopted provisions on the public budget in communities. What changes can occur in the public space if local residents are actively involved in management – this issue was the highlight of the event. Information support for the activities of local governments is another important area of ​​activity in which those present learned new knowledge.

The implementation of the national budget has certain advantages: for citizens, representatives of local government bodies and for the community as a whole – all participants of the training agreed on this. After the training, the participants visited the updated therapeutic department of the local hospital, which was completely rebuilt according to European standards, and were convinced that it is ready to accept patients who will be able to receive treatment in proper conditions – in wards with improved conditions of stay. They also visited the public library, which is difficult to recognize after a major renovation. The modern interior design with new furniture and an updated book fund give hope that the library will now be a popular place for recreation and interesting leisure for adults and children.
