Community representatives establish cooperation within the framework of the activities of the Public Justice Center of Chernihiv Oblast

On September 22-23, 2020, a training session “Establishing interaction and constructive resolution of problems/conflicts, decision-making in the community” was held for representatives of the Chernihiv and Ichnya communities, in particular educators, representatives of social services, law enforcement officers, employees of local legal aid centers and public activists.
In the context of the decentralization reform, the role of local communities in resolving legal problems and meeting the legal needs of their members is increasing, in particular through legal education, various forms of pre-trial and extrajudicial dispute resolution and with the assistance of public organizations and activists. In particular, this concerns resolving socio-legal issues, working with vulnerable groups, and creating a safe environment in the community. A separate need in this area is the facilitation of dialogues, the establishment of cooperation between local communities, courts, authorities, legal aid providers and the public for the effective referral of citizens, prevention and prophylaxis, as well as the involvement of other relevant specialists and services (psychologists, social educators, mediators, etc.).
To this end, within the framework of the 2-day training, the participants of the training were trained in the application of facilitation procedures and mechanisms for resolving conflicts in communities. Such skills will allow representatives of various structures to further constructively solve problems through dialogue processes, taking into account the interests of communities and involve all actors in solving urgent problems of communities on the basis and with the assistance of the Public Justice Center of Chernihiv Region.
The event is organized by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights as part of the project “Development of the Public Justice Center in the Chernihiv Region”, which is implemented with the support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) under the New Justice Program.
