MEDIA AND ELECTIONS

Journalists got acquainted with the practice of covering elections in European countries. The standards by which European journalism lives and works are based on international acts, such as the European Convention on Human Rights and mechanisms developed by the Council of Europe, PACE and the UN. Mr. Lucber paid much attention to Recommendation No. R (99) 15 of the Council of Europe on the 2006 election campaign in Ukraine. The positions of media participation in the elections, the methodology of covering the election campaign, and issues of journalistic ethics were discussed in detail. The seminar was held in a relaxed atmosphere of communication. Special attention was paid to the experience of France in holding elections and media coverage of the election campaign.
