How to control the integrity of judges was learned in Chernihiv region

On July 26-27, 2018, public activists, lawyers, human rights defenders and journalists learned how to monitor the integrity of current judges and candidates for these positions during a training in Chernihiv.

The goal of the event was to increase the capacity of public activists in Chernihiv region and neighboring regions regarding public participation tools in the process of verifying the integrity of representatives of the judicial corps.

discussed with the attendees the concept of “integrity”, requirements for ethical behavior and lifestyle of judges, the role and participation of the state and the public in monitoring the integrity of representatives of the judicial system, international principles of judicial behavior, mechanisms for bringing judges to disciplinary responsibility, etc.

Within the framework of practical examples, using open data, the participants learned to analyze dossiers and declarations, and also practiced working with state registers and non-state projects to monitor the integrity of judges and candidates for these positions.


The event is organized by the All-Ukrainian Coalition for Legal Aid, the Bureau of Legal Communications, and the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights with the support of the Press, Education, and Culture Section of the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine.
