The 10th Docudays UA Traveling Human Rights Documentary Film Festival has begun in Chernihiv

On November 29, 2013, a press conference was held at the Chernihiv Regional Library named after Korolenko, dedicated to the official opening of the film screenings of the Tenth Traveling Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights Docudays UA in the Chernihiv region.
The event was attended by: Igor Chaika – a famous Ukrainian director; Ruslana Burova and Olena Trubenok – representatives of the Non-Governmental Organization “M’ART”, Viktor Tarasov – representative of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights.
As Ruslana Burova noted during the opening of the festival: “The value of this festival is to use cinema to draw the attention of Ukrainian society to the problems of the common man, to the separation of a person from the crowd, to the world of his thoughts, feelings and worldview. Films have a powerful educational value, as they lead to the realization that human rights begin precisely with an understanding of the value, uniqueness and unrepeatability of each individual person.”
The festival began with a screening of the film “Dream” directed by Darya Dryuchenko. This film is a portrait of the musical director of a boarding school for deaf children, Tetyana Radchenko, whose dream is to have her own roof over her head. Unfortunately, the concepts of doing good, doing what you love and being happy in life are not always equal. Tatyana’s story is a drama of a talented, selfless person who sacrifices herself for the happiness and joy of deaf children. After all, only thanks to her can these children hear the world.
On November 30, the Festival continued with a screening of the film “Gubin” in Chernihiv at the Shchors Cinema and a conversation with the director of this film, Igor Chaika, and the main character, Volodymyr Gubin.
From November 29 to December 10, festival films will be screened in Chernihiv region in cinemas, schools, universities, clubs, libraries, as well as in law enforcement agencies, penitentiary institutions, etc. Each screening will be accompanied by thematic discussions, debates, and various information events.
Also, as part of the film festival, a traveling exhibition “Everyone has the right to know their rights” will operate, the guides of which will be young people – high school students and university students. Legal information publications will be distributed during the film screenings. Everyone will be able to get legal advice on various issues.
