11 mobile teams, 2 advisory services, extensive educational work: Priluchyna’s experience in preventing and combating domestic violence

As well as cooperation with public organizations, charitable foundations, participation in actions – everything that is being done in the district to overcome this problem, Olesya Kislenko, deputy head of the Pryluky Regional State Administration, told during a briefing at the OVA media center.

“The war has deepened the problem of domestic violence. However, victims should understand that they cannot remain silent about this, they need to openly talk about cases of violence, and seek social and psychological help,” the speaker noted.

By the way, the latter is provided by mobile brigades, of which there are currently 11 in the district (one in each TG). All residents of the district, including internally displaced persons, can apply for free socio-psychological assistance.

According to Olesya Kislenko, the mobile team advises victims on their rights and the possibility of receiving medical, legal and other services, and also engages in information and educational activities.

If we talk about the statistics of appeals to mobile teams over the past three years, their number has increased in most TGs. But this is not due to an increase in cases of domestic violence, but primarily to the understanding that this problem cannot be kept quiet.

Contacts for mobile teams can be found both on the official website and on the Facebook page of the RBA.

Also, in the Pryluky district, there are 2 specialized services for primary social and psychological counseling for victims of domestic violence and/or gender-based violence: at the municipal institution “Varva Center for Social Services” (Varva) and at the Center for Social Services (Pryluky).

Civil organizations and charitable foundations contribute to improving the quality of services provided to victims of violence. These are the NGO “Innovative Social Solutions” in the Varva territorial community, and the NGO “Ladanstart” in Ladanska. The Pryluky City Council closely cooperates with the NGO “Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights”, NGO “La Strada – Ukraine”, NGO “Center for Gender Culture”, NGO “Center for Employment of Free People”.

“And the annual All-Ukrainian campaign “16 Days Against Violence” is held without exception in all territorial communities of the district. Last year, even preschoolers were involved in the campaign. After all, it is important to talk about this problem from an early age. Moreover, we launched the “Don’t Break the Viburnum” campaign – every year on November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, we plant viburnum bushes, install shoes as a silent symbolic protest against violence, and “Try on the ribbon,” the speaker said.
