Custody Records System: 3 years of operation in the Nizhyn and Koryukivka police departments
On the occasion of the third anniversary of the implementation of international standards for the protection of human rights, working meetings in the roundtable format were held in the Nizhyn District Police Department and the Koryukiv District Police Department with the participation of representatives of law enforcement agencies, local authorities, social services, public organizations and other institutions working in the field of human rights and security.
– The Custody Records system guarantees the rights of detainees and police officers through continuous electronic recording of all actions. This system not only prevents illegal actions of police officers, but also protects law enforcement officers from false accusations of illegal actions, – says Larisa Borysenko, Senior Inspector for Special Assignments (based in Chernihiv Oblast) of the Department of the Main Inspection and Human Rights Compliance of the National Police of Ukraine.
During the events, the participants got acquainted with the positive results of the functioning of this system and its effectiveness. In particular, they discussed plans for the future and further steps to scale it up in our police units in the Chernihiv region.
With the implementation of the Custody Records system, the number of complaints from citizens has decreased, as all actions of police officers and the detained person are fully recorded from the moment of actual detention to the conduct of procedural actions.
Our main goal every day is to increase the level of security, protect citizens’ rights, and comply with the best European standards in the field of law enforcement!
This event was another step towards improving police work, increasing public trust, and ensuring effective control over the observance of human rights in the law enforcement system.
