Chernihiv activists strengthen stress resistance and motivation in human rights activities

Overwork, stress, professional burnout… How to avoid their influence and support yourself while working with victims? Answers were sought at the training “Motivation, stress resistance and combating professional burnout”, organized at the initiative of the NGO “Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights” for representatives of the coalition “Chernihiv Region 1325” in order to create a safe space for talking about one’s own condition and resources.

The training was conducted by a supervisor, psychologist and expert on combating gender-based violence from the NGO “Center “Women’s Perspectives”

Olena Kalbus

.

Together with her, the participants:

– worked with V.V. Boyko’s methodology “Diagnostics of the level of emotional burnout”;

– studied the impact of stress on our lives;

– learned to recognize the symptoms of burnout and determine what stage we are at;

– looked for tools to maintain emotional stability and resourcefulness.

During the exercises and discussions, the activists better understood themselves and each other.

The participants noted how important it is to be able to openly talk about fatigue, fear, internal exhaustion – and receive support.

Thanks to the training, representatives of the “Chernihiv Region 1325” coalition not only received practical tools to overcome burnout, but also created a safe, supportive environment.

Because taking care of yourself is not selfishness, but the basis of quality help to others.

The project is implemented by the NGO “Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights” thanks to the support of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland within the framework of the project “Women, Peace, Security: Acting Together”, which is implemented by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund.
