Chernihiv media adhere to gender balance

Online media, TV channels and newspapers of Chernihiv region adhere to gender balance in their materials. This conclusion was reached by the participants of the presentation of the study “Gender issue in Chernihiv media”, which was held at the regional hub of the Institute of Mass Information “Mediabase Chernihiv”.

The presentation was attended by the representative of the National Council in Chernihiv region Iryna Senchenko, the head of the regional organization of the National Union of Ukrainian Women’s Union Oleksandr Nazarenko, the advisor to the head of the Chernihiv OVA on gender issues Tetyana Shestakovska, representatives of local media and public activists.

Some interesting figures from the monitoring of the Institute of Mass Information:

the number of male experts is 57%, and female experts – 43%

the number of female heroes of news materials is only 24%, while the heroes are 76%

the number of female experts is greater this year and is 43%. Accordingly, the number of male experts this year is less than in 2024 and is 53%.

the gender balance is not observed in terms of profession – only 7% of the authors of the stories are men, the rest, respectively, are women
