Chernihiv residents will be asked whether they trust the police

During December 2016, a survey of citizens is being conducted in Chernihiv regarding their satisfaction with the work of the local police. To study the level of public trust in the police in Chernihiv, volunteers of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights, with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation, are offering citizens to fill out an anonymous questionnaire with several blocks of questions.
During the survey, information will be collected and analyzed on such parameters as the effectiveness of the local police, the level of trust in it by the Chernihiv community, the safety of the city, the state of citizens’ readiness to cooperate with the police in the field of ensuring public order and security, and possible forms of interaction between the police and the community.
The active phase of the survey of citizens will be conducted during December 2016. The study will interview at least 1,000 respondents. In addition, it is planned to involve employees of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernihiv Oblast and the Patrol Police Department of Chernihiv.
It is expected that conducting such a study of citizens’ opinions will contribute to the establishment of proper communication and interaction between the police and the public, as well as to the improvement of police work in general.

The results of the study will be presented in early 2017.
