COMBATING HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Such circumstances create quite favorable conditions for the existence of human trafficking for the purpose of their transportation abroad. This is significantly facilitated by the status of the Chernihiv region as a transit region for illegal migrants from the countries of the Asian region to the countries of Europe.

The Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights (CHPCHR) has been working in the field of combating human trafficking, illegal migration and assisting refugees for a long time. Based on our experience, we can state that these problems have been escalating recently. Therefore, a decision was made, together with the International Organization for Migration, to begin active activities to combat human trafficking in the Chernihiv region. The project involves a number of human rights, educational and informational actions with the participation of representatives of interested parties: employees of local government bodies, law enforcement agencies, migration service, NGOs and the general public. A separate direction of the project is direct assistance to victims of human trafficking and their relatives, as well as a broad information campaign to prevent this shameful phenomenon.
