Effective counteraction to gender-based violence: Chernihiv region is taking important steps forward

A 3-day training for representatives of territorial communities was held in Chernihiv on the topic: “Effective implementation of local policy in the field of combating gender-based violence: identification, assistance to victims and work with perpetrators at the community level.”

The event brought together experienced specialists from local governments and social services of territorial communities of Chernihiv region. Participants jointly considered the challenges facing communities in combating gender-based violence and sought effective solutions.
Main topics of the training:
– Identification of cases of violence – how to identify victims, especially in cases where violence is silenced;
– Providing assistance to victims – algorithms of action, best practices of support, creating conditions for safe seeking help;
– Working with perpetrators – approaches to resocialization, prevention of repeated violence;
– Prevention of professional burnout – an important part of the training was devoted to the emotional resilience and psychological well-being of professionals who work with difficult cases every day. Participants received advice on maintaining a balance between professional activities and personal resources.
This initiative has become a platform for sharing experiences, strengthening cooperation between communities and forming a sustainable system of responding to challenges related to violence.
The project is implemented thanks to the support of the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland within the framework of the project “Women, Peace, Security: Acting Together”, implemented by the Ukrainian Women’s Fund.
