The book presents the palette of political parties in Chernihiv region, tracks the main trends in the development of political life in the region for the period January – October 2005. The publication of data on monitoring political processes that took place in Chernihiv region is intended to draw the attention of political parties to the problems of voters
and to help in the formation of the 2006 election strategy taking into account the above-mentioned problems. The head of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights Nataliya Romanova also published data on monitoring human rights observance in Chernihiv region, which was carried out during 2005, focusing, in particular, on the recorded violations
of electoral legislation.
The discussion that unfolded among the round table participants focused on the issues of transparency in political party financing, the problem of election polarization, and the lack of transparency in compiling lists of candidates for local council deputies. Mechanisms of civil society influence on the course of the 2006 local council election campaign were also discussed. The round table participants noted the appearance of the first cases of violations of electoral legislation.
