FROM THE LIFE OF VIDEO PIRATES

Let us recall that this was the only case in Ukraine when, during the “Orange” revolution, there was an open confrontation between the authorities and the people, which led to the use of force and dozens of casualties. On this day, a crowd of thousands of Yushchenko supporters, led by the People’s Deputy of Ukraine, socialist Mykola Rudkovsky, tried to get to the building of the Chernihiv City Council to force the deputies to make a decision to recognize V. Yushchenko as President. After the explosion of a group of police officers guarding the city council building with explosive devices used by unknown individuals, the Ministry of Internal Affairs employees, two of whom were seriously injured, used batons and stun grenades to prevent people from entering the building. As a result, several dozen people from both sides were injured.

The members of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights, who were present on September 22 at Krasna Square in Chernihiv, could only be surprised at how the socialist party functionaries brazenly used our video recording, chopping up the general documentary plot, editing it in such a way that it “promotes” the idea of destroying the Chernihiv mayor, hated by the socialists (apparently, the experience with Melnychenko’s films came in handy). We are sincerely surprised by how skillfully the plot was rewritten, removing those moments that sounded dissonant in relation to the fighter for the people’s welfare, People’s Deputy M. Rudkovsky, whose actions the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights assessed back in the days of the Orange events on November 26, 2004, as openly provocative with a criminal flavor. Although, what can we expect from people who are not used to respecting the Law. What do they have copyrights recorded on the discs with the film, released by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights (we now do not understand why the socialists supported the law on combating audio and video piracy).

It is a pity that they are pushing completely law-abiding representatives of the journalistic profession to violate the law. At least we were pleased that in response to legitimate copyright claims, the “author” of this video opus called “The Price of Betrayal”, a representative of the Nizhyn TV company “Phobos” I. Volosyankin babbled something incomprehensible like “I didn’t know” and showed signs of obvious fear, unlike the “frozen” V. Antoshyn, assistant to People’s Deputy M. Rudkovsky.

And rightly so, because the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights is going to file a corresponding lawsuit in court to protect the violated copyright and advises journalists, and in general all reasonable citizens, not to contact those who are framing them.
