Heads of Chernihiv condominium associations discussed security issues with local police officers

On March 2, 2017, a meeting was held between representatives of the associations of co-owners of apartment buildings (OSBB) of the city of Chernihiv and employees of the Main Police Department in Chernihiv region and the city’s Patrol Police Department.
The purpose of this meeting was to involve the bodies of self-organization of the population in cooperation with representatives of law enforcement agencies, as well as to determine the mechanisms for the participation of representatives of the OSBB in ensuring public safety and law and order in the city.
During the event, the heads of the OSBB emphasized the problems that arise in the activities of the associations and the solution of which can be directly influenced by representatives of the local police.
Thus, according to
Dmytro Adamenko
, head of the Shevchenko-32 condominium association, today there are problems with parking near the house. For example, when cars block access for utility workers to remove garbage or for an ambulance to pass through the entrances of the house. In addition, there is an urgent need for cooperation between the “elders” of the house and the police in bringing irresponsible co-owners of the house to justice for throwing garbage out of windows and walking dogs in unauthorized places.
In turn,
Pavlo Shemendyuk
, inspector of the prevention department of the Chernihiv police department of the Main Police Department in the Chernihiv region, emphasized that establishing communication with representatives of associations or elders of houses is a pressing issue for the local police. Today, due to the reform of the department of district inspectors, only 45 employees remain out of 120 district inspectors in the city of Chernihiv. Therefore, establishing such cooperation will definitely help in revealing offenses, as well as preventing their commission.
The participants of the meeting agreed to exchange contact information of both representatives of the condominium association and district inspectors, who are assigned to a particular building in the city, which will help in future communication.
“The Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights plans to continue holding similar communication events. Such meetings should contribute to establishing effective interaction between the Chernihiv community and the police to ensure public safety in our city,” emphasized the organizer of the event
Kateryna Dankova
.
The event was organized by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights with the support of the International Renaissance Foundation and with the assistance of the Main Directorate of the National Police of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region and the Patrol Police Department in the city of Chernihiv.
