How can a voter not miss the opportunity to vote on May 25?

One of the mandatory conditions under which a voter will be able to exercise his right to vote during the presidential elections of Ukraine on May 25 is his presence on the voter list at the polling station where he will come to vote. Therefore, in order to avoid unpleasant surprises on voting day, everyone needs to check their data in the voter lists in advance. If during the check you find any problems with inclusion in the list, they need to be resolved in advance.

How and where can you check your data in the voter list?

1. Precinct election commission.

As is known, voting in elections takes place, except in certain cases, in the appropriate premises. As a rule, the precinct election commission (PEC) is located there, which organizes the electoral process on site. By May 8 inclusive, preliminary voter lists must be submitted to the precinct election commissions. They are intended so that the voter can come and check his data on the list at the relevant precinct. Therefore, each PEC must provide it for review no later than the next day after receiving the preliminary voter list. Therefore, you can come to your polling station and ask to provide the voter list for review. At the same time, you can check not only data about yourself, but also about your relatives, acquaintances or neighbors.

2. Web resource “Voter’s Personal Cabinet”.

This year, a useful online service was introduced, thanks to which citizens can easily check their data in the voter lists. This is the “Voter’s Personal Account”, located on the State Voter Register. If you have access to the Internet, then by following the appropriate link, you need to: 1) go to the “Voter’s Personal Account” option; 2) register by specifying the necessary data; 3) after registration, log in to your Voter’s Personal Account; 4) fill out the request form and submit it for verification of information about yourself. Approximately the next day, a notification will be sent to the e-mail address you specified during registration, stating whether you are in the State Voter Register and, if so, the address of your polling station.

3. Department of the State Register of Voters.

Until May 19, inclusive, you can contact the State Register of Voters (SVR) at your place of residence or stay and check whether you are on the voter list and what electoral address is indicated for you in the register.

Named invitations to the elections

It is worth reminding that by May 12, inclusive, each voter should receive named invitations to the elections. If they do not bring them to you, we recommend that you use one of the above methods of checking your data in the voter list.

What to do if your data is not in the voter list at the polling station or it contains errors?

If it turns out that you are not on the voter list at the polling station, although your place of residence is officially registered at the appropriate address, or there are typos in the name or other technical errors, then to correct the shortcomings or include you in the list, you must apply in writing to the relevant PEC or the local department for maintaining the State Register of Voters.

You should usually attach copies of pages 1, 2 of your passport with a note about your residence registration to the application.

The deadline for applying is May 19, 2014 inclusive!

What to do if your place of residence is not officially registered anywhere

If your place of residence is not officially registered anywhere, then most likely there is no information about you in the voter register either. In this case, only the court will help you. The last day to file a lawsuit to update the voter list in order to vote on May 25 is Thursday, May 22.

If a positive court decision is received, it must be immediately submitted to the State Voter Register Department by May 22 inclusive. If the updated voter lists have already been transferred to polling stations by the State Voter Register Department, then the court decision must be submitted directly to the PEC.

What should be done if on voting day the voter is in a place other than the registered place of residence?

To resolve this issue, you must apply to the State Voter Register Department with a passport or other document certifying identity and citizenship of Ukraine no later than May 19 inclusive.

There you must submit an application for a temporary change of voting place without changing your electoral address and documents confirming where you will actually be on voting day. The form for such an application will be provided at the DRV department.

Supporting documents may be:

– certificate from the place of work, internship or training;

– certificate of an observer, member of the precinct election commission or an extract from the decision on the formation of the precinct election commission, its composition;

– bus, train or plane tickets (their copy);

– others confirming the place of residence on voting day.

Note.

Citizens whose passports contain a mark on the registration of their place of residence in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea or in the city of Sevastopol may not attach supporting documents to the application.

Important!

On voting day, May 25, the election commission will not have the right to make any changes to the voter list, except for correcting inaccuracies and technical errors, including by court decision.
