Human rights activists helped displaced people from Luhansk region restore their documents

A family of displaced people – a son and a mother, who is a person with a disability of group II, were forced to leave their place of residence in Severodonetsk in April 2022 and urgently move to the village of Berestivka, Sumy region.
Their housing in the administrative center of Luhansk region was completely destroyed along with their property and documents.
Being in difficult conditions at their new place of residence, in order to urgently find a job to earn money, in particular, for his mother’s treatment, the son turned to the employment service, where the problem of confirming his qualification level – the availability of education documents required during employment – was clarified.
Following an announcement about providing free legal assistance to displaced persons placed on the employment service stand, the man learned about his opportunity to receive assistance from lawyers of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights.
Having applied for legal assistance to the office in Sumy, some of the destroyed documents were quickly restored at the new place of residence – provided that information was available in state registers. In the interests of the client, a written application was drawn up for the reproduction of duplicate diplomas based on information contained in the Unified State Electronic Database on Education.
Thus, the man was able to confirm his profession for employment in his specialty, so he will be able to provide for his mother’s needs with his own work.
Assistance to the displaced family was provided by lawyers from the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights in partnership with the Danish Refugee Council (DRC) thanks to funding under the European Union’s Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Programme.
