HUMAN RIGHTS SCHOOL

Given the school’s focus on maximum involvement of Ukrainian and Belarusian specialists with practical experience in building civil society, the following teachers acted as teachers of the school: Volodymyr Vaisman – expert of the International Helsinki Federation for Human Rights, Volodymyr Chemerys – director of the Respublika Institute, Volodymyr Yavorsky – executive director of the Ukrainian Helsinki Union for Human Rights,

Oleksandr Lomako – head of election programs of the Civic Network “OPORA”, etc.

The event aroused great interest among the participants, as it consisted of both theoretical classes and a practical part, during which it was possible to get acquainted with the Ukrainian experience of building democracy quite widely. A good addition to the school was the meeting of its participants with representatives of almost 30 Ukrainian non-governmental organizations engaged in human rights education. There was an exchange of views and a lively discussion of common problems.

This event is the next stage in a three-year joint project of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights and the Belarusian Helsinki Committee with the support of the European Commission, which involves promoting the development of civil society in the Republic of Belarus and developing cooperation between the third sector of this country and colleagues from Ukraine.
