In Chernihiv and Sumy, volunteers learned how to interview participants in court proceedings

During March 26-27, 2019, representatives of volunteer teams and responsible employees of the target courts of Chernihiv and Sumy regions underwent training on the practical aspects of surveying participants in court proceedings using the methodology of citizen reporting cards (CGC).

The trainings were organized by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights in cooperation with the Northern Human Rights Group (Sumy) within the framework of the project “Conducting Surveys of Participants in Court Proceedings Using the Methodology of Citizen Reporting Cards (CGC) in Chernihiv and Sumy Regions” with the support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) within the framework of the New Justice Program.

Over the course of two days, participants learned about the best practices of interaction between courts and the public in Ukraine using the example of a mechanism for monitoring the quality of judicial services to citizens using the citizen reporting card methodology, the main dimensions for assessing the quality of court work, considered the psychological aspects of conducting a survey using the CGZ methodology, and improved their skills in planning work and conducting surveys of participants in judicial proceedings.

During group work, the main difficulties that may be encountered during the survey were formulated. Together, the training participants looked for ways to solve problematic issues.

It should be noted that the study of the quality of work of courts in Chernihiv and Sumy regions by conducting a survey among participants in judicial proceedings using the CGZ methodology is being conducted during March-April 2019.
