In Chernihiv, displaced persons and local residents learned how to start their own business
On January 17-18 and 24-25, 2017, trainings on self-employment and business development were held in Chernihiv. The participants were internally displaced persons from Donetsk, Luhansk regions and Crimea living in Chernihiv region, as well as representatives of the local community.
The event was attended by both those who have already started their business and have been working as private entrepreneurs for a long time, and those who just want to start their own business.
During the training, the participants gained new knowledge and skills for starting and running their own business, analyzed the market, learned about the basics of marketing and legal aspects of private entrepreneurship. In addition, the participants of the training had the opportunity to learn how to draw up business plans to implement their own ideas.
After completing the training, participants must present a brief description of their own idea. Those who successfully defend their business plans will be provided with grant assistance for the purchase of equipment, professional equipment and furniture, which is necessary for starting or expanding the submitted business.
As noted by the trainer of the event, a representative of the AXALAR Center,
Yuriy Trofimenko
: “It was a pleasure to work with all the participants of this program. Many have already come with their own ideas, which simply lacked either self-confidence or theoretical knowledge and skills. During the two-day training, we were able to jointly analyze all the threats, opportunities, weaknesses and strengths of each idea. The positive result should be the successful defense of all business plans and the implementation of the training participants’ own ideas.”
“Today, it is very important to support those who suffered during the conflict in Ukraine. When you lose your home, your job, everything you worked for most of your life, it is very difficult to stay motivated and start building everything from scratch in a new place. We have given an important role in the series of trainings to motivation. And the acquired knowledge and skills should become a theoretical basis for starting your own business,” emphasizes the head of programs of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights
Kateryna Dankova
.
The events are organized by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) within the framework of the project “Integration and stabilization support by providing livelihoods to internally displaced persons and the population affected by the conflict in Ukraine” with financial support from the Government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, acting through the Department for International Development (DFID).
