In Chernihiv region, vulnerable voters are being explained their electoral rights and voting rules

As part of an educational campaign in social and medical and penitentiary institutions of the Chernihiv region, activists are conducting legal education events on the electoral rights of citizens who are temporarily restricted in their movement and voting rules.

During the conversation with the wards and employees of the Chernihiv and Kozeletsk geriatric boarding houses, as well as the Chernihiv correctional colony No. 44 and the pre-trial detention center, the rights of voters, the mechanisms for exercising the right to vote, the provisions of the Law of Ukraine “On the Elections of the President of Ukraine”, and the methods of restoring the violated rights of voters were explained.

During the conversation, it was noted that only those who have a document certifying their identity and citizenship, and at the time of voting will be included in the voter list at the polling station where they plan to vote, can vote.

It was separately emphasized that it is prohibited to photograph and record on video in any way the results of voting in the booth for secret voting and to demonstrate the results of voting by a voter in the voting room.

Voters also received information materials and contact information for organizations that can help in case of violations or difficulties in exercising their electoral rights.


The event was organized by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights with the support of the Democracy Fund of the US Embassy in Ukraine.
