Information activities to combat gender-based violence in the Osterska and Novobilouska communities

Continuing work with communities in the field of preventing and combating domestic violence, working meetings were held in the Osterska and Novobilouska communities of Chernihiv region.

Together with representatives of the Main Directorate of the National Social Service Service and the Department of Preventive Activities of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Chernihiv region, the leadership and responsible employees of communities, we discussed the implementation of the policy in the field of preventing and combating gender-based violence (GBV) at the local level.

Once again, the need for policy implementation was emphasized through the creation/amendment/operation of an advisory body under the city/village council, the identification of authorized persons for coordination and implementation of the policy, as well as the development of targeted programs to combat GBV in the community to ensure access to effective and efficient assistance to victims of domestic violence.

During the meetings, recommendations were provided to community representatives on informing stakeholders in combating GBV about the role of the coordinator in this area and the personal responsibility of not only the coordinator but also the community elders.

We are grateful to the representatives of the Oster and Novobilouska communities for their cooperation, understanding of the problem, and the desire to create effective algorithms for responding to and identifying victims of gender-based violence and ensuring a comprehensive approach!
