In connection with the reorganization

changes, the re-election of the Executive Secretary of the Council at the UMVD in Chernihiv region and the Secretary of the Council from the public took place. The candidacies were unanimously

approved: from the UMVD – the head of the public relations center, Lieutenant Colonel of the militia Serhiy Bryl, from the public –

Viktor Tarasov, executive director of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights.

One of the issues put forward for discussion concerned the membership of the Board of Directors of the “BONAMENTE Legal Clinic” Tukhan Ediev. Members of this organization provide free legal assistance to the public of Chernihiv region, and also unite law students who undergo internships, providing legal assistance to the population under the guidance of experienced lawyers. The main goal of joining the board, noted

Tukhan Alikhanovich, is to replenish the existing commissions.

To identify both violations by police officers and violations of their rights, providing law enforcement officers with technical means, etc. After discussing the candidacy, Tukhan Ediev became a member of the board.

The meeting also decided to hold a joint board of the UMVD of Ukraine in Chernihiv region together with all members of the public council. The approximate date of the meeting is set for September of this year. During this time, those present still have time to get to know the situation in the region better as part of mobile groups. In the future, check all temporary detention centers. Give an assessment to the leadership of regional departments and ITTs, which will be subject to surprise inspections.

One of the points identified by the public council was the introduction into practice, together with the leadership of the UMVD, of holding receptions for citizens within the framework of the work of public receptions. Already on Wednesday next week in Pryluchchyna in the local city district department, together with the head of the UMVD of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region Valery Nonik, members of the public council will communicate with the population of the district on all issues related to the activities of the police.

The members of the council devoted the lion’s share of the meeting time

to discussing an article by Vitaliy Tsvyd in the newspaper “Vechernye Vesti” with a comment by Oleksandr Pidgorny “The cop will not hurt a pedophile”. Also discussed were the things heard and seen during the meeting of the “Reform” press club on May 8, where the issue of human rights observance in the Chernihiv region and the failure of the police to fulfill their direct duties was acutely raised. The course of the resonant events in the villages of Lyubech, Ripkynsky and Ponornytsia, Koropsky districts, is being followed not only by law enforcement officers, but also by the public. Therefore, the council members determined comprehensive information about the progress of these cases, where criminal cases have been initiated and where additional forensic medical examination has been assigned. Not only a narrow circle of police, law enforcement organizations or councils, but also the entire population of the Chernihiv region should know about the additional measures.
