Probation centers of Chernihiv region improve skills in combating human trafficking

On February 21-22, 2019, a two-day training was held for representatives of district departments/sectors/branches of the State Institution “Probation Center” and Centers for Social and Psychological Rehabilitation of Children in Chernihiv region, which aimed to prepare center employees to conduct activities on safe migration and combating human trafficking.

The training program was rich and interesting. Some participants participated in such trainings for the first time, so the main component of the course was devoted to the basics of coaching.

Throughout the work, sufficient attention was paid to the awareness of the importance of preventive work on illegal migration, which will ultimately prevent the crime of human trafficking; to the coverage of information on the current state of human trafficking; providing detailed information on steps to ensure your own protection from human trafficking; methods for conducting training sessions with vulnerable categories of the population.

“Your examples of training work give us the opportunity for internal motivation in conducting activities for our wards,” said one of the training participants.

The head of the branch of the State Institution “Probation Center” in Chernihiv region, Yevheniy Skaliun, thanked the organizers of the event and noted that improving the professional level of staff is an integral part of probation activities.


The training was organized within the framework of the project “Raising awareness of the vulnerable population of Chernihiv region regarding safe migration and employment” with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Representative Office in Ukraine, funded by the Ministry of International Affairs of Canada and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Norway.
