The head of the Chernihiv sector of the migration service, Tiberiy Nilabovych, familiarized representatives of the local community with the principles of the work of the migration service and its main tasks. The head of the department for work with foreigners of the Chernihiv border detachment, Andriy Ivansky, spoke about the state of illegal migration in the area of the Chernihiv border detachment in 2006 and expressed his hope for more fruitful information cooperation between local residents and border guards.

After the speakers’ speeches, the participants in the public hearings were given the opportunity to ask questions and comment on the information received. Local residents showed the greatest interest and concern about the construction of a temporary detention center for illegal migrants in the village of Rozsudiv (Ripky district). This is due to the fact that there is a school near the future center and the head of the Ripky district council expressed his concern about this. Today, the fate of the aforementioned center is still unknown: there is no funding, construction work is practically not being carried out.
