Results of the information campaign “16 Days Against Violence” in Chernihiv region

As in previous years, the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights took an active part in the information and educational campaign within the framework of this year’s All-Ukrainian action “16 Days Against Violence”.

We are grateful to everyone who joined and strengthened our voice in combating gender-based and domestic violence.

In almost 3 weeks of the campaign, we reached more than 10 thousand people with publications on social networks, participated in 2 meetings of coordination councils, joined the implementation of the All-Ukrainian info-campaign

#ISupport_Her

and the All-Ukrainian game library “Pink Glasses”.

Our specialists held 15 events in the city of Chernihiv and the communities of the region, including educational mini-trainings, round tables and information sessions for various target groups.

During the meetings, it was explained that domestic violence is not only about beatings. In fact, it includes dozens of forms of violent behavior. But all these varieties have common features: violation of human rights, lack of respect for another person, desire for power and control over him or her, management of his or her decisions and actions.

Our trained trainers – students of 10 and 11 grades from 10 communities of the region joined the information campaign and held 30 events on the principle of “equal to equal”, reaching more than 450 peers and teachers in their educational institutions. During the campaign, we actively conducted educational activities on the streets of the city – distributed thematic leaflets and communicated with community residents, including police representatives.

Special thanks to the Education Department of the Chernihiv City Council for understanding the issues and the need to conduct educational work not only for students, but also for employees of educational institutions on the issue of violence.

Despite the completion of the information campaign, representatives of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights continue to provide assistance and support to victims of various forms of violence (physical, sexual, psychological, economic).
