Round Table on Identification and Referral of Survivors of Violence in War Conditions Held

Within the framework of the project “Response and Protection of Victims of Conflict-Related Sexual and Gender-Based Violence,” a round table dedicated to the identification and referral of survivors of violence was held in Chernihiv.
It was a lively professional conversation for those who work daily with people in need of support: representatives of government bodies, social services, and NGOs. It is often their decisions that determine whether a person receives help on time and whether they are left alone with danger.
During the meeting, they talked about how to recognize cases of sexual and gender-based violence at early stages, what signals should be paid attention to, and what to do next so that a person quickly reaches specialists — psychologists, social workers, and lawyers. They separately focused on the difficulties specialists face in war conditions and the importance of clear interaction between services.
Natalia Kulikova, Program Manager of the Chernihiv Public Committee for Human Rights Protection, emphasized: “Identifying a survivor is not about paperwork and formalities. It is about attentiveness and a timely response. When the system works quickly, a person receives support exactly when it is truly needed and is not left alone to face violence.”
Following the meeting, the participants agreed to further strengthen cooperation between services, share experiences, and work together to ensure that assistance to women, girls, and children in the community is accessible and timely.
