Second Small Grants Competition “Supporting Local Civil Society Organizations and Public Initiative Groups to Implement Democratic Change in Ukraine”

NGO “MART” with the support of the European Union announces the Second Competition within the framework of the project “Ukrainian Regional Platform of Citizen Initiatives” to support the implementation of democratic changes at the local level in Chernihiv region.
The purpose of the competition
is to support
interregional joint initiatives
of civil society organizations (public associations) and newly established initiative groups from different regions, in particular those located in rural and remote areas, in order to ensure their active participation in democratic changes in Ukraine.
Organizations submitting project proposals for the competition may be:
• Newly established (registered no earlier than 2014) public associations or charitable organizations (non-profit code 005 / 0036 and 006 / 0032), which are registered in Chernihiv region.
• Local initiative groups.
• Public associations, charitable organizations (non-profit code 005 and 006) from settlements with a population of up to 100 thousand (registered in Chernihiv region).
Project applications are not accepted from religious organizations, political parties and their local branches, trade union organizations, associations of local governments, local governments and executive bodies, municipal institutions and enterprises, individuals, commercial organizations.
Each organization can submit only
ONE
project proposal, but can act as a Partner in projects of other organizations.
We draw your attention to the importance of interregional cooperation and the allocation of two separate components in the competition.
Component 1
concerns organizations that received support under the first small grants competition and provides for joint projects between them.
Component 2
concerns all other organizations interested in this competition, which are encouraged to engage in interregional cooperation. Components 1 and 2 are described in more detail in paragraph 5 of the Regulations on the Second Small Grants Competition.
Public and charitable organizations that:
are in liquidation;
• do not have the ability to implement grant projects and report on their implementation (including financial reporting).
• made any efforts or took actions to influence members of the Evaluation Committee or the organizer, administrator of the competition with the aim of illegally making a decision in their favor cannot be
participants in the competition and grant recipients.
• direct their activities to change the boundaries of the territory or state border of Ukraine, to violate the order established by the Constitution of Ukraine, as well as public appeals or distribution of materials with calls to commit such actions, calls for a violent change or overthrow of the constitutional order or to seize state power, as well as distribution of materials with calls to commit such actions.
• initiative groups that were supported within the framework of the first small grants competition and did not register a civil society organization (CSO).
Priority thematic areas of the Competition:
Protection and promotion of human rights (in particular, vulnerable groups of the population);
Implementation of public control and monitoring of the activities of local executive authorities and local self-government bodies;
Initiatives to support decentralization;
Combating corruption;
Civic education, advocacy and community unification for joint problem-solving;
Ensuring gender equality in all spheres of public life;
Understanding and establishing cooperation between regions.
Activities that can be supported within the framework of this Competition:
• organization of interregional public events (public hearings, public discussions, meetings, round tables, exhibitions, flash mobs, trainings, conferences, study visits, etc.);
• publication and distribution of information materials, printed and electronic publications, brochures, etc.;
• information campaigns, if they are an element of wider activities;
• conducting joint advocacy campaigns.
This list is not exhaustive.
The project cannot be part of another project.
The competition cannot support activities that involve political, party and election activities, or bear signs of political or party agitation.
Components of the competition and the amount of the grant.
Two separate components are announced within the framework of the competition – each project proposal will be considered and evaluated only among the proposals submitted for the same component.
Component No. 1
for interregional projects, where applicants and partners must be organizations and initiative groups whose projects were supported within the framework of the first small grants competition: .
A mandatory condition is the interregional activity of the project, which implies the presence of at least two organizations from different regions. In addition to them, other organizations may also participate in the project.
The minimum grant amount for the project is
90,000 UAH

The maximum grant amount per project is
130,000 UAH
.
The total budget of Component No. 1 is 508.8 thousand UAH.
Component No. 2
for all other organizations and initiative groups that apply and meet the requirements of clause 2 of the Regulations on the Second Small Grants Competition. Interregional project proposals will receive priority during consideration and evaluation, but project proposals that do not involve partner organizations can also be submitted within this component.
The minimum grant amount per project is
45,000 UAH.
The maximum grant amount per project is
90,000 UAH
.
The total budget of Component No. 2 is 339.2 thousand UAH.
