Starting life over: The difficult divorce of a displaced woman from the Donetsk region

Not to tolerate deception from her husband, but to start life from scratch. This is what the displaced woman from Makiivka decided and turned to the Chernihiv Public Committee for Human Rights Protection for legal assistance.
Ms. Larisa is a displaced woman who moved with her daughter from the Donetsk region to Chernihiv. Due to the situation in Donbas, her and her husband Andriy’s views on all events diverged. As a result, the husband left the family for unknown reasons. He stopped calling, communicating with his wife and child.
Larisa had to contact the police to search for her husband. However, law enforcement officers did nothing to find Andriy. In the end, the woman decided that her husband either remained in the DPR or died. But last summer she accidentally met him with another woman on the beach.
Since then, Larisa has continued to try to find her husband, even to get a divorce, but the search has not yielded any results. The woman was deeply affected by these events, which negatively affected her health. Having learned about the work of the Center for Legal Information and Consultations, Larisa turned to them with a request to help her dissolve the marriage.
The Center’s lawyers considered all possible options for resolving the situation. Then they found out the address where the Makiivka District Court had moved and prepared the appropriate statement of claim. The case was difficult, because the whereabouts of Larisa’s husband are unknown.
At the same time, the court employees demanded UAH 800 for filing an ad in a local newspaper, which the woman simply did not have. By doing so, they only worsened the situation and made Mrs. Larisa worry all the time. But caring people helped the woman raise the necessary funds, the ad was published, and the divorce took place according to the procedure.
Finally, after so many efforts, the difficult matter was resolved. In August, Larisa received a decision from the Kostyantynivskyi City District Court of Donetsk Oblast, which dissolved the marriage between her and her ex-husband.
