Tactical Medicine, Mine Awareness, and Risk Management: New Skills for Human Rights Defenders

Employees and activists of the Chernihiv region underwent specialized security training – from tactical medicine to mine awareness and actions in emergency situations.
Participants practiced how to stop bleeding, use tourniquets, stabilize survivors, and safely evacuate them from danger zones. Separately, they learned to recognize suspicious objects, mark dangerous areas, and act in a way that does not put themselves or others at risk.
Another important topic is risk management and action planning during crises. Together with the trainer, they practiced algorithms: how to assess threats, build safe routes, and coordinate the team even in the most difficult conditions.
Such knowledge is needed not only for our own safety. They help us effectively support people in border and frontline communities, especially those who need it most.
The project is implemented with the financial support of the European Union and the Transatlantic Foundation/Black Sea Trust for Regional Cooperation.
