The 13th International Traveling Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights DocudaysUA has started in Chernihiv region

Traditionally, in December, the 13th Traveling International Documentary Film Festival on Human Rights Docudays UA starts in Chernihiv Oblast, and its program this year offers films whose topics raise issues common to both Ukraine and the world.
This was announced by the organizers of the festival in Chernihiv and Chernihiv Oblast, representatives of the NGO “MART” and the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights during a press briefing on December 1. The opening was presented by:
–
Nadiya Kryvopalenko

Docudays UA
in Chernihiv Oblast, NGO “MART”;
–
Ruslana Burova
– human rights activist, executive director of the NGO “MART”;
–
Kateryna Dankova
– lawyer, program coordinator of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights.
The festival has been traveling across Ukraine since October, and by the end of December, residents of more than 250 cities and towns have been able to see and will continue to see the best documentaries about human rights.
The central theme of this year’s festival is “Through Illusions,” because today countries and peoples are saying goodbye to many of their illusions. The illusion of the stability of the world order, which strong democratic countries agreed on together, is being destroyed. The illusion of the whole world about the weakness of Ukraine and the inability of Ukrainians to self-organize has been dispelled. Ukrainians, in turn, faced a fundamental question: isn’t it time for the authorities and society to get rid of the illusion that the country can be reformed without changing the basic relations in the economic, social and cultural spheres.
In addition to the usual screenings of documentary films in educational institutions and state institutions, 3 public screenings are planned to be held in Chernihiv during December.
According to the planned schedule, on December 8, the cultural and business center “Svitoglyad” (Prospekt Peremohy, 108a) will host a screening of the film by German director Stefan Kessioglu, “Burden of Evidence”
, as well as a press breakfast with famous human rights defenders of Ukraine, during which Chernihiv residents and guests will be able to talk with them about the protection of human rights and learn about best practices in this matter. The event will start at 11:00.
The next open screening will be held at the Chernihiv Regional Universal Scientific Library named after V.G. Korolenko (21 Myru Avenue). At 11:00, the film “David and I” by Canadian directors Ray Klonsky and Mark Lemy will begin
, which helped to acquit and release a person wrongly sentenced to a long term of imprisonment – the main character of this film. After the film, a discussion with an expert will be held for the audience.
And the final event – the grand closing of the festival in Chernihiv will take place in the form of a party on December 16 at 6:00 PM. The film “Everything is according to plan” by Ukrainian director Mykola Dondyuk
about the fight of Kyiv activists against illegal construction will be shown. In informal communication, after the film is finished, event participants will be able to discuss similar problems in Chernihiv and, possibly, find partners and develop a plan to solve them. You can join the event by coming to the cafe “Predslava”, at 93 Peremohy Avenue.
Outside the city of Chernihiv, open screenings of documentary films are planned in Nizhyn, where the audience will be presented with the film “Alice in War Country”, already known to Chernihiv residents
(the screening will take place on December 7, 0 17:00, at the cultural and educational center “Yunist” at the Nizhyn State University named after Mykola Gogol, which is a partner of the event. The center is located at 3 Vozdvyzhenska Street) and in Pryluky, where the film “Everything is going according to plan” will also be presented (the screening will take place on December 9, at 13:00, at the Pryluky Museum of Local Lore named after V.
