The action “Europe without human trafficking!” will take place in Chernihiv.

On October 18, 2015, public activists will hold an action under the slogan “Europe without human trafficking!”, timed to coincide with the European Day against Trafficking in Human Beings. The event is aimed at drawing the attention of state institutions and the population to the problem of human trafficking in the regions.

The political and economic situation in Ukraine has negatively affected all spheres of society. Combating human trafficking is not defined as a priority activity. In this regard, there is a need to draw attention to this problem with renewed vigor. Ukraine remains a country of supply, transit and has become a country of destination – cases of human trafficking have also been recorded within Ukraine. “According to our data, more than 120 thousand Ukrainians have become victims of human trafficking since 1991. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has helped almost 12,000 victims of human trafficking start a new life, – emphasized Manfred Profasi, Head of the IOM Representative Office in Ukraine. – But the relevance of the problem does not decrease, people continue to suffer from it. ” This also applies to residents of the Chernihiv region, which is one of the leaders in labor migration.

As part of the All-Ukrainian action, mass events will be held simultaneously in 17 regional centers of Ukraine. During the event, it is planned to distribute printed materials on the relevant topic, actively interact with the organizers and the media, promote the number of the National Free Hotline for Combating Human Trafficking and Counseling Migrants (free numbers

The event is organized by the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights in conjunction with the Department of Family, Youth and Sports of the Chernihiv Regional State Administration.

In Chernihiv, the event will take place on Sunday, October 18, 2015, on the Alley of Heroes from 12:00 to 14:00.
