The courts of Chernihiv region will conduct a survey of participants in legal proceedings

During May-June 2021, the courts of the Chernihiv region are conducting a survey of visitors regarding their satisfaction with the work of the courts using special anonymous questionnaires in a remote format.
The Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights has begun implementing the project “Conducting Surveys of Participants in Judicial Proceedings Using the Methodology of Citizen Reporting Cards (CRC) in the Chernihiv Region in 2021” with the support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) within the framework of the New Justice Program.
Due to quarantine restrictions and to reduce personal contact in court premises, court visitors will be asked to fill out an anonymous online questionnaire with several blocks of questions.
During the implementation of the project, information will be collected and analyzed on such parameters as the accessibility of the court, the convenience and comfort of being in court, the completeness and clarity of information, the acceptability of the costs associated with applying to the court, the availability of legal aid if necessary, compliance with the deadlines for the trial, the perception of the work of the court staff, and the perception of the work of the judge.
Links to web addresses and QR codes of the online questionnaires of the KGZ, as well as telephone numbers that participants in court proceedings can call to participate in a telephone interview and an interview via telephone messengers will be placed on information boards in the premises of the target courts and in the form of printed leaflets. Information about the opportunity to participate in a remote survey will also be distributed on the web pages of the target courts, on the portal of the judiciary and other web resources.
The active phase of the court visitor survey will be conducted during May-June 2021. At least 1,000 respondents will be interviewed as part of the study. It is expected that conducting such a study of the opinions of citizens who are court visitors and users of court services will contribute to the establishment of proper communication and interaction between courts and the public, as well as improving the work of courts in general, in particular under quarantine restrictions.
Based on the results of the survey, specific recommendations will be developed to improve the quality of court services. A report on the results of the study will also be published.
The results of the study will be presented in July 2021.
