The Forum “Supporting Volunteer Activities in Wartime” was held in Chernihiv

The event brought together volunteers, as well as representatives of various public organizations and charitable foundations of the Chernihiv region. The purpose of the meeting was to develop volunteering in the region, network and strategize public organizations, support initiative movements, as well as research into current volunteering problems, and find advocacy ways to solve them.
During the event, participants actively discussed the problems of civic activism, volunteering, and supporting vulnerable categories of the population in the current conditions of the ongoing war. Together, they analyzed the stages of development and support of the idea – from its conception and search for resources for implementation to advocacy processes.
During the forum, Dmytro Onos, Deputy Head of the NGO “Active Society of Ukraine”, presented the results of the survey of the readiness of the population of Chernihiv region to emergencies “Step to safety and increased readiness”. The purpose of this survey is to help volunteers determine how and to what extent residents of the region are ready to respond to dangerous challenges that arise in conditions of full-scale aggression by the Russian Federation.
The forum participants also identified urgent problems of volunteer activities related to volunteer registration and tax reports; border crossing and duration of stay; transportation of humanitarian aid and goods related to it.
We remind you that volunteers/public organizations/charitable foundations can count on effective and high-quality legal assistance, because the lawyers of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights provide legal support for volunteer and charitable activities in the Chernihiv region.
