Training of PEC members for local elections in territorial communities was held in Chernihiv

On October 17, 2017, a training was held for members of precinct election commissions of Chernihiv region. The event was attended by chairmen, deputies, secretaries and members of precinct election commissions from rural, settlement and urban united territorial communities (UTCs) of Chernihiv region, in which the first local elections will be held on October 29, 2017.
During the event, participants had the opportunity to learn about the features of the electoral process in accordance with current legislation, the intricacies of voting on the day of the local elections themselves, and considered problematic aspects of preventing voting disruption, countering possible fraud, and the reasons for declaring elections invalid.
According to the trainer of the event, an expert on electoral issues
Volodymyr Andriychenko
, the local elections in territorial communities, which will be held on October 29, 2017, are more important than the parliamentary elections, since after the adoption of the relevant legislation on the land market, the newly created united territorial communities (UTCs) will be able to become more effective and develop their own infrastructure, while they will be independent and financially self-sufficient.
Kateryna Dankova
, head of programs of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights, also emphasized the importance of the upcoming first elections in the ATC and conducting them as transparently and honestly as possible. In her opinion, such training events allow PEC members to be better prepared for the difficult electoral process and non-standard situations that may arise during voting.
