Training “Who, if not us? Building a new local government”

If you see yourself as the head of a united territorial community, a local deputy or a village headman, we invite you to Chernihiv to attend a useful and practical training to learn more about how decentralization is taking place in Ukraine and how to participate in local elections.

Who can participate in the training

Active community members, human rights defenders and local activists who care about the fate of their communities and who want to take local power into their own hands and change the lives of communities for the better.

Participants from all regions of Ukraine are invited to participate in the training. All other things being equal, preference will be given to participants who intend to participate in the local elections on April 29, 2018.

The objectives of the event are to provide candidates for deputies and community leaders, as well as local activists with information about the opportunities and challenges of decentralization in Ukraine. To encourage the most active community members to run for local government and take responsibility. To teach the mechanisms of participating in elections as a candidate and how to conduct successful election campaigns.

The event program includes:

– Decentralization in Ukraine. Opportunities and challenges.

– Organization of the electoral process in united territorial communities.

– Procedure for nominating candidates and conducting election campaigning.

– Counteracting unfair practices in elections.

Leading Ukrainian experts from the NGO “Committee of Voters of Ukraine” will act as trainers.

Registration is open until March 20, 2018 inclusive.

Participants will be notified of the selection results on March 21, 2018.

Participation in the event is free! The organizers will provide accommodation and meals for the event participants. Participants’ travel to and from the training venue is also reimbursed within the cost of travel in a train compartment car, provided that documents confirming the cost of travel are provided.

BO “All-Ukrainian Coalition for Legal Aid” and NGO “Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights” in cooperation with NGO “Committee of Voters of Ukraine”.
