Ukrainian civil society activists are invited to a training on protecting the rights of vulnerable voters

The selection of participants for the training “Protecting the Rights of Vulnerable Voters” is announced for Ukrainian public activists, human rights defenders and journalists involved in or interested in electoral processes.

Who can participate in the training
Public activists, human rights defenders and journalists involved in or interested in strengthening electoral participation and civic engagement of vulnerable groups. Participants from all regions of Ukraine are invited to participate in the training.
The aim of the event is to strengthen the capacity of Ukrainian civil society activists, human rights defenders and journalists to ensure a transparent electoral process for vulnerable groups (voters with disabilities, migrants and internally displaced persons, prisoners, low-mobility and socially isolated voters), as well as those interested in observing the electoral process in penitentiary, medical and socio-medical institutions.
The event program includes:
– International standards for organizing fair and free elections;
– Guaranteeing the electoral rights of citizens who are temporarily restricted in their movement;
– The role of the public, authorities and election commissions in ensuring the free and transparent expression of will of socially and informationally isolated voters;
– Organization of the electoral process at special polling stations.
– Peculiarities of the voting procedure in penitentiary, medical and social-medical institutions;
– Peculiarities of voting by internally displaced persons, internal labor migrants, voters living abroad;
– Counteracting unfair practices in elections.
The trainer will be a leading expert of the NGO “Committee of Voters of Ukraine”.
Registration lasts until March 14, 2019 inclusive.
Participants will be notified of the selection results on March 15, 2019.

Participation in the event is free!
The organizers provide accommodation and meals for the participants of the event. Also, the participants’ travel to the training venue and back is reimbursed within the cost of travel in a compartment train or “Intercity+” (2nd class) upon submission of documents confirming the cost of travel.
