Working meeting with a representative of the Ombudsman in Chernihiv region

We held a working meeting with the Regional Coordinator for Public Relations of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights in Chernihiv Oblast, Alla Lepekha.

We discussed the state of observance of constitutional rights and freedoms of citizens during martial law, problematic issues of protecting the rights of residents of the region in modern conditions.

spoke about the activities of the project “Protection and Support for Victims of Gender-Based Violence in Wartime in Chernihiv Oblast”, which is currently being implemented within the framework of the “Capable and Strong” program, which is implemented with the support of Switzerland.

They also talked about the features of providing comprehensive services to victims of gender-based violence, human trafficking and exploitation at the level of the Chernihiv region.


Alla Lepekha

spoke about the activities of the regional Representation of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Commissioner for Human Rights in the Chernihiv region under martial law, emphasizing that responding to manifestations of gender-based violence is one of the priorities in the activities of representatives of the Ukrainian Ombudsman.

During the meeting, mechanisms for further cooperation between the Representation and public activists on the implementation of human rights protection, in particular, the exchange of information on the state of ensuring the rights and freedoms of vulnerable groups of the population in the region, were discussed.

They agreed to hold joint educational events to increase awareness of the public and risk groups on the issue of gender-based violence and opportunities for receiving assistance.
