A regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Council on Family, Gender Equality, Prevention and Counteraction to Domestic Violence and Combating Human Trafficking at the Chernihiv Regional Office of the Interior was held

On October 18, a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Council on Family, Gender Equality, Prevention and Counteraction to Domestic Violence and Counteraction to Human Trafficking under the Regional State Administration was held.

During the meeting, the representative of the Chernihiv Public Committee for the Protection of Human Rights Nataliya Kulikova spoke about the situation with human trafficking in the region from the point of view of the activities of the public organization. She emphasized the need for constant preventive work among the entire population, because the entire population is at risk due to a full-scale invasion.

Separately, they talked about the need for information work with children, because today a large number of children are leaving to study abroad. It also focused on the problems of coordination and cooperation on the ground, the lack of information about authorized persons at the level of the Regional and Local Administrations, the need to focus on the problem of human trafficking, since it is, more than ever, timely…

✅The Interdepartmental Council recommended: – for effective assistance and protection of victims of human trafficking, rapid and reliable exchange of information, it is necessary to constantly take measures to activate the mechanism of interaction between entities that carry out measures in the field of combating human trafficking, in particular social services, police agencies, health care agencies, public organizations.

– all entities at the regional and local levels to establish work on informing the population of the region about the problem of human trafficking, in particular:

a) about the danger of falling into a criminal scheme of human trafficking, rules of personal safety, critical evaluation of information;

b) about the algorithm of actions when a person or someone they know has already fallen into a situation of human trafficking, has been exploited;

c) about hotlines of law enforcement agencies, human rights NGOs, assistance centers, etc.;

d) about the procedure for establishing the status of a person who has suffered from human trafficking.

– district state administrations, in cooperation with territorial communities, should take measures to increase the number of persons who have taken advantage of all types of free assistance and specialized services.

– recommend that the border service strengthen border control in order to prevent and detect facts related to human trafficking.

– ensure that district military administrations consider issues related to combating human trafficking at meetings of coordination councils on family issues, gender equality, prevention of domestic violence and combating human trafficking, in which local governments and public organizations should be involved.

– ensure that district military administrations, together with territorial communities, carry out systematic information work among the population on the possibility of obtaining the status of a person who has suffered from human trafficking by persons who were held captive in occupation troops and were exploited.
